ABOUT US

Lyons Boat yard is a long established boat repair yard on the Stratford on Avon canal, just to the south of Birmingham. The canal links the south west approach of the Birmingham and Worcester canal, with the Grand Union canal at Lapworth and then it meanders through beautiful rural Warwickshire to picturesque Stratford on Avon. We provide full repair facilities and services, from simple diesel, water and pump out. through to full out of the water hull repairs, engine and electrical diagnosis, and the installation of modern green power solutions. We provide Eco friendly cleaning and protection solutions as well as operating a small fleet of hire boats for the perfect relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of modern living. Also on site is a fully stocked Chandlery, shop and excellent cafe. Lyons Boatyard is owned by Sarah and Phil after Phil recently bought into the business following a career in aviation. Sarah has been at the yard for over 6 years and both share a passion for the canal way of life, and being part if the “Family afloat”. We have recently undergone a restructuring of the business and have exiting plans for the future development of the yard. The cafe is a very new addition, which will be followed very shortly by new workshops the small hire fleet. Lyons Boat Yard is also the home of Lyons Boat Hire, providing an unusual mix of Executive and Budget Hire boats for people like you to enjoy a secret that we already know all about – the tranquillity and easy paced fun that the British canals offer. Straight from the wharf, you enter 36 miles of lock free canals with an amazing choice of routes available, from the bright lights of Birmingham’s Broad Street and all that the regenerated city centre has to offer, to the fourth longest tunnel on the British canal network, and the rolling Warwickshire countryside. Whichever you chose, the canals are littered with character pubs and villages as well as overnight mooring spots so quite you’ll be able to watch the Herons fishing and the trout leaping. (we know that sounds rather unattainable, but we guarantee, it’s absolutely true) Just follow the links at the top of the page for all you should need to know.
